Bandwidth-Intensive Network Applications Sought for SC2000

released May 23, 2000

SCinet, the onsite network designed and built especially for the annual SC conference, is soliciting demonstrations for innovative, high-bandwidth applications for SC2000, Nov. 6-10, in Dallas.

At SC2000 the SCinet team will create an exciting network infrastructure that will include a wireless infrastructure on the show floor and connections to most high-speed national research networks. In particular, the conference event called eSCape 2000 will explore potential effects of technology convergence and what it means to "do HPC anywhere." SCinet aims to showcase demonstrations of novel interfaces to HPC resources, data, and applications and to stimulate broad community discussions about how new technologies will affect both high-performance computing and the people and industries that depend on supercomputing.

Responding to the SCinet call for participation involves two deadlines:

  • By June 15 email sc2000_netchallenge@mcs.anl.gov to indicate your interest in participating and to outline what you want to do.
  • By July 15 submit your proposal.

For details about the SCinet Call for Participation, see http://www.mcs.anl.gov/sc2000_netchallenge/. For more information about SC2000, see the conference website at http://www.sc2000.org/.
