PETSc Workshop to be Offered on Access Grid

released September 19, 2000

The Access Grid will be used to present a two-day workshop on PETSc (Portable, Extensible Toolkit for Scientific Computation). The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. CDT Oct. 17 and 18. It is sponsored by the Alliance as an initiative of the Partners for Advanced Computational Services (PACS).

PETSc is a suite of data structures and routines used for the scalable, parallel solution of scientific applications modeled by partial differential equations. Leading developers from Argonne National Laboratory will present information regarding the uses of PETSc. Attendees will learn how to use the toolkit to write and solve parallel codes, as well as to manage the Grid data structures without explicitly using MPI to program.

The Access Grid is a collaborative virtual workspace that brings people together in real time regardless of their physical location. Users may attend the workshop at any of the participating sites: NCSA, Ohio Supercomputer Center, North Dakota State University, University of Kentucky, Boston University, and University of Utah.

For more information regarding registration for the PETSc Workshop, see http://alliance.osc.edu/petsc/. For more information on PETSc, see http://www.mcs.anl.gov/petsc/.
