Webcast: NSF Director Rita Colwell Keynotes Women In Computing Conference

released October 10, 2000

An important address by Rita Colwell, director of the National Science Foundation, given at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing 2000 Conference, is currently being Webcast in its entirety by HPCwire, the online journal for high performance computing.

To view the Webcast go to http://www.tgc.com/videos/hopper/.

The Grace Hopper Celebration, held at Cape Cod, is a technical conference that consists of plenary speakers, technical papers, panels and workshops by successful researchers in the area of computing. The speakers, who provide a real-world focus on the vital contribution women have made and are making in all areas of computational science and industry, are all internationally-recognized leaders in their respective fields.

The theme of this Third Grace Hopper Celebration is Interconnection, as it applies to the connections between computing and other fields, the connections among women in computing around the world, and the connection between technology and the needs of the world of women. In keeping with this vital theme of Interconnection, the Grace Hopper Program is being extended to include highly interactive forums on technology innovations; the HPCwire Webcast has been expressly designed to highlight these ideas by offering Dr. Colwell's views to a worldwide Internet audience for the first time.
