Next FFP Brown Bag Lecture This Week

released February 12, 2002

The next scheduled NCSA/University of Illinois Faculty Fellows Brown Bag lecture will take place Wednesday, Feb. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 4269 of the Beckman Institute. The lecture will be webcast at http://mediavectra.ncsa.uiuc.edu/seebauer/.

The lecture will feature Faculty Fellow Edmund Seebauer. His presentation, "Nanolithography of Amorphous Semiconductors," will discuss his research that seeks to develop computational underpinnings for a new lithographic scheme for fabricating arrays of nanoparticles starting from an amorphous thin film. The lithography is based on the notion that optical illumination can be used in a spatially resolved manner to selectively ripen subcritical nuclei present in amorphous semiconductors after film deposition under carefully controlled low-energy ion bombardment.

The Faculty Fellows Program (FFP) offers one-year fellowships to U of I faculty engaged in research projects that could benefit from access to the world-class computing facilities and expert staff at NCSA. The program is funded by NCSA, the University of Illinois, and the office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. The Brown Bag seminar series gives current Faculty Fellows the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects with their fellow university colleagues and with the NCSA/Alliance community.
