The Next AMPATH Workshop to be Held at FIU

released January 21, 2003

The next AMPATH workshop will take place at Florida International University in Miami Jan 29-31. The workshop, sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Florida International University, is entitled "Fostering Collaborations and Next Generation Infrastructure."

The workshop will allow AmericasPATH (AMPATH) network participants, potential participants, and those with a regional or international interest in the project to exchange ideas and form and solidify new and existing collaborations.

The workshop will include presentations and panel discussions on topics not covered at previous AMPATH conferences, including distance learning, optical networking, biosciences, and disaster management. Demonstrations of international collaborative projects over the high-speed AMPATH network will also be featured. The first meetings of AMPATH working groups will also be scheduled during the workshop. AMPATH is a project of Florida International University that supports scientific research collaborations among U.S. and multinational researchers or among U.S. institutions in the AMPATH service area. AMPATH's goal is to facilitate research collaborations among researchers in South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean and the rest of the world to further advance U.S. science and education. For more information or to register for the workshop, visit the workshop website at http://www.ampath.fiu.edu/Miami2003.htm.
