NEES Fast Hybrid Test System Workshop

released August 26, 2003

A free two-day workshop will be conducted Oct. 9 and 10 at the University of Colorado, Boulder on the Fast Hybrid Test (FHT) system, which has been newly developed and installed as part of NSF's George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES). The FHT system combines structural testing with model-based simulation. The purpose of the workshop is to inform potential users in the earthquake engineering community about the functionality, application, and operation details of the system. The workshop will cover:

  • An overview of the Fast Hybrid Test method and its application
  • System hardware and software configurations
  • Capabilities and limitations of the system hardware
  • Simulink and OpenSees programs used for real-time computations
  • Teleobservation and teleparticipation capabilities
  • Laboratory infrastructure
  • Guidelines and policies for shared use

The workshop will consist of short presentations by the project team at CU, a laboratory tour and demonstrations, hands-on experience with the teleparticipation software, and general discussion forum.

To participate, contact Eric Stauffer (Eric.Stauffer@Colorado.edu) by Friday, Aug. 29 and provide the following information: name, job title, affiliation, and contact e-mail address. Enrollment will be limited. Depending on funding availability, partial travel support may be provided but is not guaranteed.
