Registration for PITAC Meeting Closes Nov. 10

The President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC), including NCSA Director Dan Reed, will meet Nov. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Eastern) at Noesis-Inc., 4100 N. Fairfax Drive, Arlington, Virginia. Members of the public are invited to attend in person or via Webex, but capacity is limited. Interested individuals should register by Nov. 10 by sending a message to pitac@itrd.gov.
PITAC was established in 1991 to advise the president and other White House officials on how to invest U.S. federal funds in information technology research and development (see http://www.itrd.gov/pitac/ for more information.) Over the next 18 months, the PITAC will address such issues as biomedical research and health care delivery, homeland and cybersecurity, IT for science, IT and education, and e-government.
The Nov. 12 meeting will focus on "The New Health Care: How Information Technology is Transforming America's Health Care System." Topics to be discussed include the use of health information technology for clinical trials, public health preparedness, and drug safety; health achievement through IT; and safeguarding health in the ambulatory setting.
