Madeleine Jacobs to Lead American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society, has named Madeleine Jacobs as its next executive director and CEO, effective Jan. 1. She will succeed the retiring John K. Crum.
Jacobs currently is editor-in-chief of the weekly newsmagazine of the American Chemical Society, Chemical & Engineering News.
Jacobs holds a B.S. in chemistry from George Washington University and completed coursework for a master's degree in organic chemistry at the University of Maryland. She recently was awarded an honorary doctorate of science from George Washington University.
