NSF budget to be considered in January

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives approved a $373 billion spending bill for the 2004 fiscal year that would provide the National Science Foundation with $5.6 billion, $300 million more than in 2003.

The fate of the budget package is uncertain, as it must be approved by the Senate. Senators will reconvene on Jan. 20, 2004, to consider the legislation.
