NCSA organizes Cluster Security Workshop at CCGrid-2005
released May 03, 2005
The IEEE International Symposium on Cluster Computing and the Grid (to be held in Cardiff, United Kingdom, May 9-12) will include a first-of-its-kind international workshop on cluster security chaired by NCSA Senior Systems Security Engineer Bill Yurcik.
The cluster security workshop, under the theme "The Paradigm Shift," will focus on stimulating new ideas in order to reshape cluster protection strategies. Cluster security is a complex, multi-dimensional problem with dynamics over time, so a wide variety of approaches may be appropriate, including prevention, monitoring, measurements, mitigation, and recovery.
In addition to Yurcik's role as workshop chair, five other NCSA staffers served on the program committee organizing the workshop: Larry Brumbaugh, Greg Koenig, Greg Pluta, Adam Slagell, and Jun Wang. Additionally, NCSA's cluster security research group will present four papers.
