Microsoft's Bill Gates to Deliver SC05 Keynote
released July 26, 2005
Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates will deliver the keynote address at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the SC05 Conference in Seattle.
While at Harvard in the 1970s, Gates developed a version of the programming language BASIC for the first microcomputer—the MITS Altair. In his junior year, Gates left Harvard to devote his energies to Microsoft, a company he founded in 1975 with his childhood friend Paul Allen. Guided by a belief that the computer would be a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing software for personal computers.
SC05, the premier international conference on high performance computing, networking and storage, will convene November 12-18 in Seattle. Under the theme "Gateway to Discovery" SC05 will showcase how high-performance computing, networking, storage, and analytics lead to advances in research, education, and commerce. Exciting technical and education programs, workshops, tutorials, an expanded exhibit area, demonstrations, and many other activities await attendees.
