Using models of arterial grafts like the one below, researchers from
London's Imperial College are attempting to develop arterial grafting
techniques that will reduce atherosclerosis build up. Relying on their own
enhanced version of NekTar, a fluid code developed by George Karniadakis at
Brown University, the researchers can accurately simulate blood flow
through various graft designs on NCSA's SGI CRAY Origin2000.
