Yorktown Heights, NY — The Linux Clusters Institute (LCI) Workshop will be Aug. 18-22 at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. The workshop offers intensive, hands-on sessions for computational scientists, researchers, engineers, analysts, and cluster system administrators. Special presentations include “Linux Solutions for e-Business,” “Solving Large Sparse Systems of Linear Equations on Linux Clusters,” and “Linux on the IBM Power4 pSeries.”

The workshops are designed to enable computational scientists, engineers, and analysts to develop applications that achieve maximum performance and scalability on Linux clusters of all sizes. Covered in the applications module are topics such as Intel and AMD architecture details, memory subsystem and cache tuning, CPU tuning, multithreaded code optimization, distributed memory optimization using MPI, hardware performance counters, and more.

System administrators learn about issues related to the administration of Linux clusters in support of secure, reliable, and high-performance computing. Topics include networking, remote administration, job scheduling, account management, security, backup, monitoring tools, and various tools and scripts for common tasks.

Prospective users of Linux clusters will find the workshop a detailed and informative introduction to the process of acquiring, configuring, and using Linux clusters.

Registration is limited and closes July 18. Additional information and registration are available at http://www.linuxclustersinstitute.org.

The Linux Clusters Institute was founded by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Center for High-Performance Computing at the University of New Mexico, and the Advanced Computing Technology Center at IBM Research.
