CHAMPAIGN, IL
Each year, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) brings together its industry partners, business leaders, and the center's experts on high-performance computing, grids, Linux clusters, data mining, IT security, knowledge sharing, visualization and other topics for the Private Sector Program Annual Meeting.
This year's meeting will take place May 16-18 in Urbana-Champaign under the theme "Innovation: Working on the Edge of Technology." Highlights include: - Demonstrations of the center's latest innovations and cutting-edge projects in the pipeline, including security visualization software, reconfigurable computing, and data, text, and music mining technologies;
- A keynote address by NCSA Director Thom Dunning, named one of ten Innovators & Influencers of 2005 by InformationWeek;
- A plenary presentation by Steve Scott, chief technology officer of Cray, Inc., on "Cray's Roadmap for High Productivity Computing";
- A plenary speech from Eng Lim Goh, chief technology officer of SGI;
- A tour of NCSA's high-performance computing environment and data center, featuring 43 teraflops of computing power and 1 petabyte of spinning disk;
- The introduction of University start-up companies and area high-tech companies, including ChemSensing, Chromatin, iCyt Visionary Bioscience, RiverGlass, and Wolfram Research.
