CHAMPAIGN, IL — The second annual Workshop on Flow Analysis (FloCon) will take place Sept. 19-22 in Pittsburgh. NCSA senior systems security engineer Bill Yurcik is one of the conference organizers and will help administer the conference on-site, along with a half dozen NCSA student RAs.

FloCon focuses on the use of "NetFlows" source data for monitoring computer network security. NetFlows are a metadata aggregation of network traffic into source-destination connections that are particularly useful for high-speed security monitoring.

Yurcik will moderate an industry panel (featuring Akamai, Cisco, Lancope, and Q1 Labs) on "Flow Analysis for Network Security Monitoring," while Katherine Luo, Ratna Bearavolu, and Xiaoxin Yin, all of NCSA, will present papers at FloCon.
